“DSWD is the executive department of the Philippine Government responsible for protecting the social welfare rights of Filipinos and promoting social development. It started as Public Welfare Board in 1915. It aims to lead in the formulation, implementation, and coordination of social welfare and development policies and programs for and with the poor, vulnerable, and disadvantaged, and envisions all Filipinos free from hunger and poverty, have equal access to opportunities, enabled by a fair, just, and peaceful society.
