“DSWD is the executive department of the Philippine Government responsible for protecting the social welfare rights of Filipinos and promoting social development. It started as Public Welfare Board in 1915. It aims to lead in the formulation, implementation, and coordination of social welfare and development policies and programs for and with the poor, vulnerable, and disadvantaged, and envisions all Filipinos free from hunger and poverty, have equal access to opportunities, enabled by a fair, just, and peaceful society. Employees live by the core values of Maagap at Mapagkalingang Serbisyo, Serbisyong Walang Puwang sa Katiwalian, and Patas na Pagtrato sa Komunidad.

Some of its programs and services include Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program, Kalahi-CIDSS, Sustainable Livelihood Program, Bottom-up Budgeting, Listahanan, Social Pension Program, Supplemental Feeding Program, Residential and Non-residential facilities, Adoption and Foster Care, Disaster Response Operations, and Protective Services Program.

DSWD- Cordillera Administrative Region is one of its 17 Regional Offices located at 40 North Drive, Baguio City.
