One of the most promising municipalities of Surigao del Norte is Claver. It is endowed with rich mineral, marine and forest resources. Its farmlands are fertile and its rivers could be a source of tremendous hydro-electric power.

Claver is primarily a mining town with iron, nickel, copper and silver deposits on its Pulang Lupan mountains which are exploited mainly by the Taganito Mining Corporation. Mining, trading, and -traditionally – farming and fishing are the main sources of livelihood among residents. Fishing has become increasingly difficult due to water pollution as a consequence of mining activities.

Municipal Government Office of Claver is headed by Hon. Mayor Georgia Dy Gokiangkee, wife of the former mayor Eddie Patan Gokiangkee. Sangguniang Bayan Office is headed by Vice Mayor Narlito Galinato Jamesula along with the SB members.
