We are looking to hire a highly motivated and experienced Diagnostic Medical Physicist. As a highly specialized healthcare professional, the Diagnostic Medical Physicist is responsible for ensuring the safe and effective use of radiation in medical imaging procedures. S/he closely collaborate with radiologists, technologists, and other healthcare professionals to optimize the diagnostic quality of medical images while minimizing patient and staff exposure to radiation.  

Additionally, S/he develops, tests and evaluates specialist equipment and procedures in many areas including radiotherapy, nuclear medicine, laser technology and physiological monitoring. perform and supervise treatments using therapeutic equipment. S/he may monitor radiation output employed for cancer patients. Furthermore, s/he ensures optimal equipment performance and protect patients and physicians from radiation hazards. Ultimately, s/he is expected to deliver excellent quality of care to his/her patients. 

The job role and responsibilities are as follows:

• Develops and maintains quality management program for all imaging equipment to facilitate the production of images of optimum quality while minimizing radiation doses to patients; 
• Responsible for all instrumentation required for quality control, image quality, and patient exposure measurements; 
• Determines doses from radiological procedures; 
• Assures that the use of good radiological technique by the technologists 
• (i.e. proper collimation and optimization of the radiation protection program) 
• Participates in the development and implementation of a cost containment program for medical physics activities and imaging equipment; 
• Performs periodic leakage checks of various radiation protection or RADPRO apparels (i.e. lead gowns, gloves, goggles and etch.); 
• Performs periodic radiation survey and/or monitoring in areas where radiation devices are installed. 
• Participates in the institutional radiation safety committee and other committees as appropriate (e.g. medical isotope committee); 
• Determines shielding required for new or renovated equipment rooms for ionizing radiation and for radiofrequency and magnetic fields; 
• Recommends equipment usage and replacement whenever deemed appropriate; 
• Develops and administer the radiation safety program; 
• Reviews and recommends remedial action/(s) to correct any deficiencies identified in the radiation safety program; 
• Participates in the development of criteria for approval of new users of radiation;

• Must have a Master’s Degree in Medical Physics 
• At least 4 years of relevant work experience or equivalent accredited highly skills-based specialized training hours/units. 
• Must be keen on scientific methodology and systematic approach to problems or tasks. 
• Ability to handle QA on diagnostic devices and radiation therapy equipment 
• Ability to conduct treatment planning 
• Healthcare industry experience is a plus.  
• Excellent patient and customer relation skills 
• Demonstrated understanding of basic corporate office software, including Microsoft Office 365 applications.  
• Excellent communication skills. Proficiency in the Visayan dialect and/or Tagalog is required.
