A Trailblazer in Data Center Footprint

In 200, ePLDT inaugurated its VITRO data center in Pasig City, the Philippines’ first data center. A landmark achievement as it set the stage for its leadership position in the race for building data center capacity in the country.

Today, ePLDT boasts of the largest data center footprint in the country with 10 state-of-the-art facilities located in key locations nationwide including another one soon to rise in Sta. Rosa, Laguna. The current VITRO network of data centers offers 8,930 racks and powered by a combined 27 MW total IT power capacity which has been strategic in serving mission-critical operations of industry-leading operations.

When completed, VITRO Sta. Rosa, its 11thData Center, will be the largest data center with 4,500 racks and a total load of 50MW. VITRO Sta. Rosa is supported by a 60MW substation adjacent to the Data Center with contingencies in place to further improve the resiliency of the whole facility. Furthermore, it is connected to major cable landing stations that has direct access to international subsea cable systems. It will be the most modern and sustainable data center to-date as it is incorporating technology, renewable energy and design that ensures efficient utilization of power, water and reduces carbon emission.

VITRO data centers are interconnected by Software Defined Networking (SDN) technology, which optimizes IT infrastructure resiliency and geo-redundancy by backing up and replicating data from one VITRO site to another. Metro Manila data centers are also connected through Dense wavelength-division multiplexing (DWDM) to provide direct fiber connections to link each site.

The PLDT Group has been investing in world-class infrastructures such as the Jupiter cable system which increases PLDT’s total international capacity to 60 Tbps. The forthcoming Asia Direct Cable system will further add 36 Tbps of international capacity. ePLDT’s VITRO Data Centers are strategically linked together to allow seamless integration and agile response to market demands.
