DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Follows instruction of Safety Officer II through the action plans of the Safety Audit Findings closure.
2. Creates and distributes toolbox meeting topics to every department and section on a weekly basis.
3. Collects and ensures toolbox meeting topics has conducted and tackled by every department and section on a weekly basis.
4. Conducts Safety, Health, and Environment Induction to visitors, new employees, and contractors in the absence or upon instruction of Safety Officer II.
5. Conducts weekly random PPE check to JCX and contractor personnel.
6. Checks and approves work permits, in the absence of ESS Manager, and ensures its requirements are being follow and completed by the contractors, maintenance team, or process owners.
7. Ensures work shall not commence if work permit system is not fully respected or followed.
8. Conducts inspection of firefighting equipment and paraphernalia, emergency eye wash stations and showers, ladders, full-body harnesses, and full arrest equipment at least once a month; and creates work orders or purchase requests for the replacement of the abovementioned equipment as needed.
9. In the absence of the Safety Officer II, acts as the Deputy Secretary in the SHE committee meeting.
10. Maintains good documentation and recordkeeping of Safety-related documents and reports (i.e., Near Miss Reports, Behavior Based Audits, inspection reports, audit reports, toolbox meeting attendance, risk assessment reviews, Safe Working Practices (SWP) verification, etc.)
11. Reports safety and health concerns that need immediate attention to Safety Officer II and to General Managers.
12. Performs with other relevant tasks as may be assigned by the Superior from time to time.
13. Ensures compliance to Quality, Safety, Health, and Environment requirements of the plant.
14. Ensures compliance to Company Policies, Mission, Vision, and Targets.
15. Performs other relevant tasks as may be assign by the Superior from time to time.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelors degree in Engineering , or a graduate of any four (4) years course with at least one (1) year work experience as Safety Officer in a Manufacturing Industry.
- Completion of the 40 -hour Basic Occupational Safety and health training.
- Knowledgeable in Constitutional Legislations related to OSH such DOLE and Employment-prescribed OSH Standards, Republic Act 11058, etc.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Applications such as Excel , Word and Powerpoint.

Jacobi Carbons Philippines, Inc. was established in the first quarter of 2012 and was engaged in purchasing of coconut shell charcoal (CSC) from local farmers, granulated them to required sizes and prepared them for export to its affiliate companies in India, Vietnam and Sri Lanka after a thorough quality control process. At an average shipment volume of 700-100 metric tons weekly, these were being used to manufacture Activated Carbon of the other affiliate locations.
In 2013, Jacobi Carbons AB, the parent company based in Kalmar, Sweden decided to put up another activated carbon manufacturing facility in Villanueva, Misamis Oriental, Philippines. Thus, Jacobi Carbon Philippines, Inc. (JCX) was envisioned to e one of the world's largest coconut charcoal activated carbon manufacturing facility. With the capacity of 15,00 metric tons annually, JCX adopts novel technology in manufacturing , water re-use equipment and environmental pollution control measures. It employs modern rotary kilns and granulation equipment and highly efficient dust collector that captures all dust inside the production area during processing.
Jacobi Carbons Philippines, Inc. was registered as an Ecozone Export Enterprise with the Philippine Economic zone Authority (PEZA) and was granted the Certification for Start of Commercial Operation on August 1, 2015, It operates within a total land area of 4.8-hectares at Phividec Industrial Estate. The scope of its registered activity with PEZA is to engage in the production of normal and value-added activated carbon, charcoal for activation and granulated charcoal and importation raw materials, machinery and equipment used directly in its registered operations.
The first export shipment of manufactured activated carbon went out on August 20, 2015 to Aukland, California, USA. Since then JCX has been exporting its finished products to the world market, mainly to Europe.
The new plant facility was also officially inaugurated on September 22, 2015.
