Job Description:

The Utility Worker plays a vital role in maintaining the functionality, cleanliness, and overall efficiency of various facilities and environments. This position encompasses a wide range of tasks and responsibilities aimed at ensuring the smooth operations of the organization. Utility Workers are expected to be adaptable, proactive, and capable of handling various tasks in a dynamic work environment.

Responsibilities:

1. Facility Maintenance:

  – Perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning, painting, and repairing equipment to ensure facilities are safe, clean, and well-maintained.

  – Conduct inspections to identify and report any maintenance or safety issues promptly.

  – Assist in the maintenance and repair of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and other systems as needed.

2. Environmental Cleanup:

  – Handle waste disposal and recycling procedures following established protocols and regulations.

  – Keep outdoor spaces, parking lots, and walkways clean and clear of debris, snow, and ice.

  – Assist in maintaining a safe and aesthetically pleasing environment for employees, visitors, and clients.

3. Equipment Operation:

  – Operate a variety of tools and equipment, such as power washers, floor scrubbers, and hand tools, to perform maintenance tasks.

  – Ensure proper handling, storage, and maintenance of tools and equipment.

4. Support Operations:

  – Assist other departments as needed, such as moving furniture, setting up event spaces, and providing logistical support.

  – Collaborate with colleagues to ensure effective communication and coordination of tasks.

5. Safety Compliance:

  – Follow safety protocols and guidelines to minimize risks and maintain a safe work environment.

  – Use personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriately when performing tasks that require it.

6. Inventory Management:

  – Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies, tools, and equipment and request restocks as necessary.

  – Keep track of consumables and report shortages to supervisors.

7. Documentation:

  – Complete maintenance logs, reports, and other documentation accurately and in a timely manner.

  – Report any unusual observations or incidents to supervisors promptly.

8. Adaptability:

  – Be willing to take on new tasks and adapt to changing priorities and situations as needed.

  – Demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to learn new skills.

Requirements:

– High school diploma or equivalent.

– Previous experience in a similar role is preferred but not always required.

– Strong communication skills to interact effectively with team members and other staff.

– Physical stamina and ability to perform manual labor and lift heavy objects when necessary.

– Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a clean and orderly environment.

– Basic knowledge of safety protocols and regulations.
